Important Timelines
Staying on top of important Medicare timelines is essential to ensuring you have the coverage you need. Do not miss key enrollment periods, renewals, or changes that can affect your benefits and costs. Keep track of these critical timelines to make informed decisions about Medicare.
Initial Enrollment Period (IEP)
A 7-month window that begins 3 months before your 65th birthday, includes the month of your birthday, and extends 3 months after.
Annual Enrollment Period (AEP)
From October 15 to December 7 each year, you can make changes to your Medicare coverage, such as switching plans or enrolling in a new one.
Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period
From January 1 to March 31, those already enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan can make changes, including switching to a different Medicare Advantage plan or returning to Original Medicare.
Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs)
These are available throughout the year if you experience certain life events, such as moving out of our plan’s service area or losing health coverage.
General Enrollment Period (GEP) You can sign up for Part A and Part B during the General Enrollment Period from January 1 to March 31 each year, if you missed your Initial Enrollment Period and don’t qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. When you sign up during the General Enrollment Period, your coverage starts the first day of the month after you sign up.
